Free Estimates: Call 305-259-0099
A tiki hut can become the reason guests choose your place: the shaded spot where they stay for another round, the backdrop for their photos, and the outdoor seating that keeps filling up in Florida's heat. Tiki Huts Inc. has designed and built thatched structures since 1987. We build custom tiki huts for restaurants, waterfront bars, hotels, resorts, marinas and event venues across the Florida Keys and the rest of Florida. We also build large entertainment bars for private estates. We handle the whole project: design, engineering, permitting, construction and later maintenance. You get one licensed and insured team from the first sketch to the first pour. Call 305-259-0099 for a free estimate.
Tiki Huts Built for Business, Not Just the Backyard
A commercial tiki hut is used harder than a backyard one. It has to handle daily service, heavy foot traffic and staff working underneath it, and it needs to look good in every guest's photo. We design around the way your business runs:
• Restaurant and patio bars: An open-air bar that adds seats, gives diners shade and makes a patio a destination.
• Beach, pool and waterfront bars for hotels and resorts: Swim-up and poolside bars, beachfront service bars, and single-pole thatched shade umbrellas set in rows along the sand so guests have shade for chairs and towels.
• Thatched walkways and connectors: Covered thatch roofs that link one building to another and carry the tropical theme across the property.
• Event and wedding structures: Large thatched pavilions with room for receptions, gatherings and private events.
• Marinas, retail and attractions: Waterfront bars, snack and ice cream stands, and shade structures for parks and public spaces.
• Large private entertainment bars: For homeowners whose project is closer to a commercial build, such as a full outdoor bar with seating for a crowd, an outdoor kitchen area and extended roof spans.

Natural Palm Thatch vs. Synthetic Thatch for Commercial Tiki Huts
We install both, and we'll help you choose based on your look, budget and how much upkeep your operation can take.
Natural palm thatch gives the traditional, hand-crafted tiki look that many guests expect. Palm is a renewable material, and a well-built thatch roof sheds water and keeps the area underneath noticeably cooler. Because it is a plant material, it weathers over time. It fades from green or tan to silver-gray and gradually thins, so it needs regular rethatching to keep its look and protect the frame.
Artificial (synthetic) thatch gives you a tropical look with far less upkeep and a more consistent appearance from year to year. For businesses that can't easily close a bar for rethatching, that predictability often matters most. Synthetic thatch is a decorative roof covering. If the area under it must stay completely dry, it should go over a separate waterproof underlayment, and we'll include that in the scope when it's needed.
Natural vs. synthetic thatch at a glance:
• Look: Natural palm thatch is traditional and authentic and varies by harvest. Synthetic thatch has a consistent color and texture.
• Upkeep: Natural palm thatch needs periodic rethatching and top-ups. Synthetic thatch is low maintenance: keep it clear of debris and inspect it.
• Warranty: Natural palm thatch has an 8-year pro-rated thatch warranty, a 2-year labor warranty and a conditional lifetime structural warranty. Synthetic thatch has a 20-year pro-rated material warranty and a 1-year workmanship warranty.
• Best fit: Natural palm thatch suits authentic "island" settings and owners who accept regular upkeep. Synthetic thatch suits high-traffic venues that want a predictable look and budget.
Permits, Engineering and Fire Retardant
Commercial and hospitality projects usually need more paperwork than a backyard build. Requirements depend on the structure, its location and how it will be used, and local building departments want to know a thatched roof is being built safely. We help secure the required permits before work starts and coordinate engineered drawings when the job calls for them. That way, fines, stop-work orders and redesigns don't delay your opening.
Fire safety matters wherever there are guests, staff and cooking. Natural palm thatch is combustible. We offer a water-based fire retardant spray that can be applied to new thatch and to existing structures. The fire retardant products we use are non-toxic and environmentally friendly, and they comply with ASTM, NFPA and UL testing standards. We'll also help plan safe clearances between the thatch and grills, heaters, tiki torches and other heat sources.
Durability and Warranties You Can Plan Around
A commercial tiki hut is an investment you'll want to protect for years. We put our warranties in writing:
• Artificial thatch: A limited warranty with a 20-year pro-rated material warranty and a 1-year workmanship warranty when Tiki Huts Inc. installs it. View the Artificial Thatch Limited Warranty.
• Natural palm thatch: An 8-year pro-rated limited thatch warranty (100% in years 1–3, 75% in years 4–5, 50% in years 6–7 and 25% in year 8) and a 2-year labor warranty.
• Lifetime structural warranty (natural thatch huts we build): It covers the structure for as long as you own the property, as long as all rethatching, maintenance and repairs are done by Tiki Huts Inc. in a timely manner.
Every warranty has conditions and exclusions, such as storm damage and heat sources. Please read the full warranty documents, and we're happy to walk you through them before you sign.

Commercial Tiki Hut FAQs
Do you build tiki huts for restaurants, hotels and resorts?
Yes. We design and build custom tiki huts, pool and beach bars, thatched walkways, event pavilions and shade umbrellas for restaurants, bars, hotels, resorts, marinas and venues, as well as large backyard entertainment bars.
Should my commercial tiki hut use natural or synthetic thatch?

Often, yes, especially for commercial properties. It depends on the structure and local codes. We help you get the permits you need before construction starts. Learn about tiki hut permits.
